Cody is 6 Months!

Hard to believe that Cody is 6 months old now. Half a year old!! He turned 6 months on the 26th. He weighs 16lbs 8 oz and is 26 1/4 inches long. He is starting to look more and more like his daddy.

Hello All

Cody is getting so big. It is really hard to believe that he will be 6 months old the day after Christmas. He has slept 2 night now without waking up for a bottle. Of course both times I woke up and freaked out and grabbed him to be sure he was still breathing,lol. He is eating baby cereal now! How did that happen? He also eats #1 baby food vegetables. I will pictures of that later. Here are 2 pictures taken in the last few days. The one of him standing is of him with my sister. The other is him with me.I am 5'5. Look how big he looks! I promise I will start updating more regularly, life just slips away from me some days.

5 Months Old

It is hard to believe that my little bug is already 5 months old!! He turned 5 months on Thanksgiving day. (11/26) Sorry I haven't posted in so long but I have been pretty busy here lately. Cody is doing absolutely amazing. He is getting so big already. He holds his own bottle most of the time (when we use one of the little bottles)though we still have to help him because he isn't coordinated enough to keep it in his mouth :O) We have started him on baby cereal and some baby foods. He eats rice baby cereal and sweet potatoes, carrots and squash baby food. He likes all of them, so we are pretty lucky in that area. However, some days he does not care to eat anything and only wants his bottle. It is hard to get a picture of Cody smiling though because when he sees the camera he wants to play with it and starts to concentrate on the camera and instantly stops smiling. So, we probably will not have many smiling pictures for quite a while. He is a very happy and smiling baby though, I promise. He smiles and laughs all the time. (just not when the camera is around) I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful. We had a great Thanksgiving, it was Cody's first one and though he was not able to partake in the feast- he was able to partake in the family gathering. We had Thanksgiving here at our house for our side of the family and then he went with my mom and step dad to my step dad's side of the family for their Thanksgiving get together. So, he had a big family day. Kevin started putting up our Christmas tree last night. Once it is up I will post pictures of it. I ordered Cody a special ornament from Lenox that has his name and birth date on it for his first Christmas. It is in and is already on the tree. Anyway, will post more later.

4 Month Portraits Made

I went yesterday and had Cody's 4 month pictures taken. (He was actually 4 mos & 11 days) We chose 4 poses and they are absolutely beautiful. As soon as I can get the info on how to look at them online, I will post it here. In one of the pictures, he has drool dripping off of his chin. I had to get that pose because that is him right now. Drool and all,lol. I took him to a Dr appointment yesterday because he hasn't been feeling well. His Pedi believes that he has asthma & allergies. Kevin has asthma, so it is completely possible. On top of allergies, he is teething and still no teeth have come through yet *argh* I think I should buy stock in Orajel at this time. Since benadryl has not worked for him, she prescribed another cough medication and the COPAY was $40.00. I almost had a stroke right then and there. That was with my insurance. Without my insurance it was around $100.00. The lady at the pharmacy said that the medication doesn't come in a generic and it must not be on my insurance company's "preferred" list. Must not *ouch* Anyway, that is about it around here. Nothing else to really mention. Kevin and I are having a "date" night tonight though. My mom is keeping Bug and we are going to a movie and to eat dinner.

Today (November 4th) Cody experienced 2 "firsts" He ate his first "real" food (Gerber rice cereal mixed with Gerber harvest juice apple w/ carrot) and sat in his high chair for the first time. He did not eat in his high chair because it was not put together when he ate, but once it was I sat him in it. He liked the cereal okay, tomorrow I will just put his formula in it though. He didn't seem all that thrilled with juice. So, he ate just a few bites of cereal and then washed it all down with his bottle. The high chair was not quite a "hit" with him though. He was okay at first, but then poked out his bottom lip and started crying :O( However, it was way past his bedtime and he was fussy and tired so we will try again tomorrow to see how he likes his high chair. My little boy is growing up so fast. I do not want to miss a thing. We love him so much. I did not know that it was possible to love as much as I love my little bug. Everyone who knows me knows that I have a special place in my heart for children with Down Syndrome. I aim to become the mom of one of these special people soon. I do not see Down Syndrome as a disability, I see it as an enhancement of us "boring" people. People with Down Syndrome are just like us. They have feelings, they have goals, they have needs & they most definitely need love. I have met so many wonderful people in the last few years in my crusade to become the mother of a child with Down Syndrome. I can honestly say that my best friends are those that I have met through my Down Syndrome connections. We first were going to adopt children with DS internationally, but our Heavenly Father blessed us with Cody before we completed our adoption. We still plan on adopting, but will probably do so here in the United States. (though not 100% on this) I believe that Cody will grow up to be a better person if he has a sibling with that extra chromosome. My friend Kristy has 2 beautiful children with DS. (John Paul & Dasha) They were adopted not too long ago and have come so far in such a short period of time. These are pictures of them from Halloween this year. There is also a little girl named Kaelyn whose blog I follow, she was born premature and has Down Syndrome. Friends & Fun

Kevin & Donnie
I do not make friends easily. Never have. I don't tend to trust many people when I first meet them. However, I have been lucky enough to meet some that I have been friends with for years. For instance, Donnie. Donnie, Kevin & my brother were all friends growing up. My sil Jennifer met my brother and they started dating, she then introduced her best friend Tiffany to Donnie. My sil and my brother married in 2001, Donnie and Tiffany also married in 2001 and then Kevin and I married in 2002. Funny how it all turned out :O) My brother and sil have 2 children and 1 on the way. Fortunately, they have never experienced a loss. Donnie & Tiffany on the other hand have. Tiffany gave birth to a beautiful little girl that they named Brooke. Brooke was born early and passed away shortly after birth. They went on to be blessed with their handsome son Wyatt. I have had many losses and now have been blessed with my little bug Cody. I feel blessed to have Donnie & Tiffany as friends. They have given so much to Cody. When Wyatt outgrows something, they pass it on to Cody. This has saved us so much money and is very much appreciated. Last night, Donnie's brother John had a get together at his house for his 32nd birthday. Donnie was there and he and Kevin had fun just talking. It was nice for the 2 friends to get together just to talk and have fun. My brother & sil did not show up, not sure why but probably because they had my niece and nephew and couldn't bring them. I was lucky that my mom kept Cody for us so that we could get out of the house. The funny thing is that when we were younger, I was taller than all the boys for quite a while. Now Kevin is 6'1 and Donnie is like 6'5. So, I have to look up at them... (I am 5'5) I hope that Cody gets his daddy's height and isn't short like me :O)

Bug's 4 Month Pedi Appt

Bug had his 4 month checkup today. He weighs 14 lb 5oz, is 25 inches long and his head circ is 42.5 cm. His weight puts him in the 50% percentile, his length is also in the 50th percentile and his head circ is in the 60th percentile. His pedi was very impressed with his strength and his slobbering ability *lol* He is doing very well. So from birth he has grown/gained...

Birth 5lb 15oz..... now 14lb 5oz. Total gain- 8lb 6oz
Birth 19.25 inches....now 25 inches. Total growth- 5.75 inches

Not sure about the head circ though.

He is just amazing. I am very proud to be his mommy :O)

Colton Steven Is Here

My nephew Cory and his wife Katie had their little boy yesterday. He wasn't due until 12/4. So, he is quite early. He weighs 5lb 4oz and is 17 inches long. So far all is well, he did have some breathing issues at first, but appears to be fine now. Apparently, Katie's water broke early yesterday morning and labor came pretty quick. I haven't been to see him yet, but from what I heard from my brother in law (grandpa) he has red hair and blue eyes. Mom has red hair and so does Grandpa, so I figured he may have it. Anyway, please keep little Colton in your prayers & thoughts.

My niece loves a pregnant belly. So, I come into the room and she has a balloon under her shirt. I asked her who was in her belly and she told me it is a boy named "Jack".... Hmmm... being 4 is a little young little one :O) She is entirely too cute. She has been on this since I was pregnant with Bug, now her mom is pregnant and my niece in law Katie is pregnant, so she is joining the fun. She wanted me to feel Jack kick.. Like I said, too cute

My sweet little bug is 4 months old today. It has gone by so fast, I now know what people talk about when they said that time just flies. Bug has his 4 month appointment with his pediatrician on Friday, so I will know how much he weighs then. Cody is such a blessing to us. It is still hard to believe that he belongs to me, after years and years of wanting a baby and not having one... He is my miracle. He has grown so much in his 4 months on earth. Enjoy the pictures. Julia is so good with her little cousin, she is always holding and playing with him. When her new brother/sister is born she will be tickled pink.

I was just looking at pictures on my computer that I had to upload again due to a virus that I got on my computer. I think that Jenny and Katie are going to be bigger than I was (belly wise) who knows? I am just happy that I was finally able to get pregnant and have a baby. My sister in law Jenny says that her belly measurement was the same as mine when she was like 4 months along. She compared it to my baby shower measurement when I was like 36 weeks along. I wonder how much their baby's will weigh? My nephew weighed 8 lb 13oz and my niece was 8 lb 2oz. Bug was 5lb 15oz. This is Katie's first baby, so no clue what his weight will be. I enjoyed being pregnant so much and the outcome which is my little bug was definitely worth every second of it.
